In the heat of the forest, Evie and Nell are exhausted. They've been walking for a while, and Nell's feet hurt. She doesn't know why they're helping Evie to get back to her hometown, but she thinks it's because she'd have to fend for herself out in the forest by herself. She's also worried that the forest is too hot and full of crawling, crawling, and crawling things. She wants to stop them, but they won't listen to her. They don't want to kill anyone, she says, and she's not going to let them kill anyone either. She tells them that they have to meet with her parents and they'll give them a reward for saving her from the dragons. She says she'll wait for them at the gate.
