In this chapter, we learn that the old geezer is there to confirm that the young man is not strong enough to fight a dragon with his bare hands. The young man tells the geezer that he will defeat any dragon that he encounters. He tells the old man that the one-eyed dragon that killed the entire village was only able to survive because he was in the woods when it attacked. The geezer tells him that the dragon has terrorized villages all over the country for over a thousand years. The old man asks if the dragon is really as ferocious as it looks. The man replies that it is not. He says that he expected something harder, and that he must have landed and run for freedom while the two of them are busy with one another. The dragon is in trouble, and he says he is going to die if he is not allowed to fight it. He feels relieved that he has saved the life of the small dragon, but he feels that he cant wait to fight the larger dragon.
