In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, Sebastian. He is a young man who has just returned from the Crusades, and he is eager to return to his family and friends in England. He asks Sebastian to keep his sword safe until he can get it back from Eldritch. He tells Sebastian that he has made up his mind to go to the Forest of Ardenne, where he will find some dry fruits for the cold nights. He then asks Sebastian if he is going southwest or springhaven, and Sebastian replies that he is heading southwest. Sebastian then asks him if he has a sense of direction and Sebastian says that he does not. Sebastian is glad to have company and says that they are high up in the sky, and that they should have a break before they continue their flight. Sebastian asks if he feels well and Sebastian tells him that he feels fine
