In this chapter, the narrator tells us that he never thought he'd be able to go to a fancy restaurant and have a drink. He's happy to see that he's not the only one who's having a good time. He also tells us how happy he is that he gets to spend so much time with his wife. He tells her that she's a "natural talker" , and that she reminds him so much of his mother. He asks her why she is here, and she tells him that she wants to spend more time with him. He then asks her if she can see her secretary again. She blinks, fidgets, and says that she can't remember the thrill she felt when she saw him step on her, and mutters that he was introduced to the "sm club" . The narrator says that it has been a year since he started as the secretary's boss. He says that at first, he didn't have a lot of confidence in her, but now that he trusts her, he really does rely on her. He thanks her both as his boss and as his man, and he promises to do his best to support her for the rest of her life.
