This chapter's epigraph comes from a conversation between a monk and a nobleman. The monk tells the nobleman that the jade pill increases the warriors' physical strength. The nobleman responds by saying that the pill also increases the monks' spiritual strength. He adds that the only way for the monk to control the other noblemen is through the "dark savage realm" of the human path.
