This chapter opens in the inner realm of the monk, where the young master has just killed the monk. The young master tells the monk that he has killed him because he is the heir to the family of xi. The monk is shocked and asks the young man why he has done such a lowly thing as killing a "mere mortal." The young man tells him that he is doing a good thing by killing the monk because he has saved the family from paying a heavy tax. The old master is furious and asks why the monk has come to such an evil place. He tells the old master to be careful and not to get it on himself.
