About This Chapter
The first girl in the story is the narrator, who tells us that she likes kissing the first girl, because she feels like she's the first to know who the other girl is. She's so sure of herself, in fact, that she guesses who the girl she kissed was when she first met her. The narrator tells the girl that he likes kissing her because it feels nice to know that she knows who she is. He tells her that he doesn't think he's as good as she thinks he is, because he thinks she only likes guys. He asks her what she wants to do with her life, and she tells him that she would like to become a professional illustrator. She says that her father lives in Australia, and that she'd love to spend time there with him after she finishes high school. The girl tells the narrator that she was born there, and when her parents got divorced, she went with her mother to Australia for the summer or Christmas holidays. She wants to go there and spend more time with her father, who lives there. The two of them go to camp together, and the narrator tells them that they'll be competing in a car-race event that night.
