The narrator announces that the total solar eclipse of the twentieth century will occur on the twentieth of August. He wishes that he had not saved his brother from a snakebite, and that he could have had a beautiful wife and a healthy child. He asks his brother to show him the wound from the snakebite so that he can decide whether or not to save his brother. He promises his brother that he and his brother will play a game together every ten years. The narrator says that he will wait for his brother and his sister-in-law to come to the game. He tells them that his brother has told them that he swallowed a traigon and that they should meet him under a tree in three days to play the game with him.
