In this chapter, we get a brief glimpse into the mind of the young man who has just returned to his job at the meatpacking plant. He tells us that he has been working there for a while now, and that he is back to his normal self. He asks the man if he can borrow his new work clothes, and the man tells him that he can do so. The young man then asks if he is feeling well, and when the man says he is, he tells him he is all right. He then tells the man that it has been awhile since he has felt this way, and he says that he was worried about how he was going to rest, but he was able to do his work.
