In this chapter, Dolo narrates his story. He tells us that he has a dream, and that he accidentally spilled some paint on a petal green in his dream. The doctor told him that he had a dream of having a heart attack, but he refused to go to the hospital. He says that he will look out for himself, enroll in school, get a good job, and then his family will be better off. He has never cried over his dream before, and it has become his "guilty secret". He tells his parents that he is doing his homework, and hiding the scale so that it will be useful to others. He asks someone to help him prepare for the school festival, but they do not want to bother him.
