In this chapter, we learn that the two young men are planning to return to the city of Fangzhou, where they will study military command. They will also have to learn from their master, who will be stationed in the city, about how to conduct themselves in the military. The two men discuss the fact that they have not yet found a suitable wife for their engagement. They are not sure if they are good enough for Fangzhou's daughter, Fuya, to marry. They decide to make her dislike them even more and ask her father for a divorce.
