In this chapter, the reader is introduced to the "fresh recruits tournament" of the Fifth Regiment, which will take place in the coming months. The tournament will consist of ten battalions, each with four infantry battalions and four archer battalions. The commanders of each battalion will lead their troops in the tournament, and the winner will be announced at the end of the tournament. Although the tournament will be held in front of the whole regiment, the commander of each of the battalions will have the final say in the selection of the winners. The commander of the fourth battalion will also be announced. The captain of the fifth battalion will serve as the tournament commander.
