In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, the "weird boy" . He is described as having a strange inner voice, which he calls "ming," or divine voice. It is the voice of a person who desires to be free from pain and suffering. In this case, "ming" is a power given by God to everyone in purgatory to fight for his or her right to live. This power is called "divine ming" because it was a power that was given to a person by God when the person was young. When he was young, everyone hated him and wanted to kill him. He kept guessing about other people and the more he guessed, the more terrified he felt, because everything he saw was proving that his idea was true. This inner voice appealed to God and he gave him a new life.
