The scene opens with a soliloquy by the young protagonist, who tells us that he has found something he wants to do because of his love for his mother. He says that she taught him that if he works hard enough, he can make his dreams come true. He sighs and says that he doesn't think he can act cool and make an exit like that. The narrator asks him what he's planning to do. The young protagonist says, "I'm just going to find something I want to do, because of my mother. She taught me that if I work hard enough and do the right thing, my dreams will come true and that the effort I put in will not betray me." The narrator pauses and asks what's going on. He's not sure what he should do, but he decides to go ahead and find out. He asks if the protagonist is planning to retire. The protagonist says no, but then he realizes that the protagonist has been wearing daichi's clothes for 20 years. He wonders if he is really retiring. He wants to see the finished product. He decides to send the protagonist a message to see if he can help him. He tells the protagonist that he'll send him a sage to talk to the protagonist about the project. He thinks that daichi hasn't read the script yet, but that he still wants to finish it. He also wonders if daichi didn't ask her about it, because he knows that she's unreliable.
