About This Chapter
In the temple, the archeress tells Owan that she is going to be his slave. She tells him that he is a warrior, but that he has changed, and she does not want to be a sluggard anymore. Owan tells her that they should leave immediately and return to their intoxication of blood. He tells her to use her magic on a man who will be to his companions. He asks if he has chosen the man, and Owan says yes. They will use camels to get to the oasis of Kufra. The sun rises, but something is happening, and it looks like the rising sun is swallowed by the temple. The archeress says that she cannot see well, and that she feels the door to hell. She says that Owan should not desecrate the place any longer, and says that the dead are better than her. She calls him her master, and tells him to come to her. He must, she says, but only if he can use his magic to save the others. He drops his weapon, and the whole squad sees it.
