About This Chapter
Redxan tells Agamemnon that he is the sun, the wind, and the star that leads him home. He says that he has only just found him again, and that he suspected that he was not of blood, but that all of his wealth cannot wash away the stench of low birth from him. He tells him that it was his power that brought about the birth of Agamemenot, and he tells him to watch as it is all taken from him once more. He hopes that this will bring him death, because he hopes that it will bring his wife to her death. He asks that the chancellors protest and others make a play to control the situation, but he believes that the union of the people will survive. He is grateful to him for his sacrifice, and says that as his last kind, he will protect him in all matters. As the last of his kind, his directive is his only meaningful purpose. He has both known the losses of those he called his own, twice over, clinging too tightly to that loss, and in that darkness, he failed to appreciate the light that still shines upon him.
