In this brief scene, the two men discuss the state of affairs in Onaxis. The captain tells Redxan that the city has been under siege for the past 11 cycles, and that the light of Onaxis has been destroyed by the Protectorate. The light of the city, he says, has been used as a weapon against the city's inhabitants. He tells Reduxan that he is innocent of the charges against him, but that his father has been imprisoned by the city authorities. After his father's arrest, his wife and daughter-in-law were forced to marry their cousin, onaxis. They are all gone, he tells the captain. He asks the captain if they can wait a bit longer, but the captain says that they should engage the engines.
