About This Chapter
Alvaro and his lieutenant, Aguilar, prepare for the landing, but the landing is rough, and they must use the intercom to communicate with each other. The lieutenant calls out to his father to get back on track, but he is unable to do so because they are too far off their target. They are going to have to carry all their supplies on their backs, and the extra weight will make it impossible to make it to the end of the flight. They cannot afford to sacrifice another one of them, they say, so they will reward the young woman who is their daughter. They talk about the remains of the Apollo 17 and how they think they can get the little car up and running. They also discuss the fact that they need the permission of the family to do a body scan on the car, which is over fifty years old. They will have to load their gear while it is moving.
