About This Chapter
Hearing her voice outside his door only turns him on more. He's sorry, but he's too wrapped in his fantasies to see her come in. He wants to know why she's smiling at him, and why she keeps looking at him. It's nothing, she says, it's just that he feels like an adult now. She reminds him of his father, and he thinks that's embarrassing. He also thinks that she reminds him more of her father than anything else. She's been living with them for a year now, and her father is still busy. He left the family when his company went bankrupt, and the two of them stayed at the house. At first, he thought he'd come back soon, but time passed and he never heard from him. Thankfully, he managed to stay in the house and not be harassed by his creditors. But there's one thing he can't understand: why is he still here? His home is right here, and his son is right there, but his father never came home. He applied for the military to get away from reality. It felt lonely to think he was coming home to an empty house.
