About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he's been living in Tochigi Prefecture since he was a kid. He's always been happy there, even though it's now been contaminated with tons of radioactive fallout from the earthquake and the subsequent meltdown at the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant. He also tells us about a visit that he and his wife, Natsuko, made to France, Germany, and the Czech Republic in order to warn the European Parliament about the dangers of relying on nuclear power. The narrator says that even though the power plant has been emitting tons of radiation, no one can figure out a way to stop it. He says that he has to go back to his hometown to see his doctors, who are very concerned about his health. He tells us how happy he is to be alive, and how he likes to spend his time with his pigs, ostriches, and other animals.
