One year has passed since Mina and Tomoyuki were married, and they are now alone together. Mina wants to see her family and friends again, but she also wants to stay in the country where she was born and raised. She begs her to stay with her, saying that she will never do anything to keep her from doing what she wants. One year later, however, the fisherman, Urushoushima taro, did not heed Mina's warning, thinking that he lived only a short time under the sea. He did not realize that he was living under the water for a hundred years, and that he would never be the same again. The two women head back to the farm, and Mina tells the dogs to scare the fisherman away. She tells the girls that they can do it for their own survival, and she promises to bring them back the next day.
