In this chapter, the protagonist is introduced to a new character named Kento. Kento is the protagonist of the novel "The Visitor." He is a young man who has just returned from a trip to Europe. He has come to meet the protagonist, Hiroyuki, at a book signing at themorinaga bookstore in Yokohama, Japan. The protagonist asks Kento to repeat his name three times in order to get him to stop repeating his name. When Kento repeats his name several times, he becomes very nervous. He wonders if there is a better way for him to relax. He asks where the flower stand should be placed, and Kento says that he will be right there with him. When the protagonist asks where they should put the flowers, Kento replies that they should place them somewhere where they will stand out more. He says that seeing Hiroyuki flustered the other day made him feel "almost unreal jolt." The protagonist is pleased to meet him, and he thanks him for always writing beautiful things. He tells Kento that he has been reading his books since the "visitor" series came out, and that he wanted to thank him in person. He thanks Kento for always reading his work, and says that it seems like all of his worries have disappeared now that he is able to do such a signing event. He remembers one of his signing events several years ago, when he was very nervous about meeting the protagonist. When he asks if he can forget about the slip of tongue he just said, he is told that he should start plaining.
