About This Chapter
"Fast and loose" with a "little model" , the narrator tells us. He's got a message for her: "You didn't do this , you just wanted to get to know me." The narrator doesn't know how to respond to this, but he does know that he's not going to be blackmailed by the guy. The narrator tells the girl that she's "such a virgin," blushing at the "drop of a hat" and "whining whoosh whin" . The girl says that's her first time ever seeing a man smile "naturally," and the narrator is impressed. He tells her that he was late for class, but thanks her anyway. He asks her if she plans to go to college, and she says she'll try to be co-ed. She tells the narrator that she has to take care of her brothers, but she can't imagine going to an "all- guy school" like the one she went to. She also tells him that the guy she met at the party was a "celebrity" who went to a different school than she did, and that she never wants to meet him again. She asks the girl if she has been hired as a handyman, and the girl says yes, but that she needs to pay extra for food and school fees.
