In this short scene, the narrator tells the audience that he's going to eat the "starving wolf" . He's about to say so when he realizes that the wolf is already eating him. He tells the wolf to stop eating him, but the wolf doesn't want to eat him yet. The narrator tells him to go back to the other room, where he'll be able to keep things "moderate." The narrator asks the wolf why he hasn't called him back yet, and the wolf tells him that it's his last day to "smooth things" at school. He also tells the narrator that there's another student at the school who's wearing the same hat as Selia, and that's because Selia is in the same class as the other student. Selia isn't wearing a hat at all, but she's still wearing the hat that Selia was wearing when she killed herself. The two men argue about whether or not Selia should have killed herself, and Selia points out that the guy who killed herself is a first-year student who is in Selia's class as well. This is the first time Selia has killed herself since she was born, so Selia can't really blame Selia for killing herself. She's not the first person to kill herself, after all.
