He says that the next three blows will depend on how many layers he opens today. The old man says that he is the emperor of the universe and that all lives are his subjects. He then says that if he doesn't make it through today, it might have been his end if it weren't for the old woman. She can keep calling him weak only because she's so damn weak. He goes on to say that he's hungry and needs to eat. He wants to go inside to change into clean clothes, and then he'll take him to dinner. He can't see the frown on his face, but it's probably because he is so close to the seal of death.
