The next morning, the three men discuss the possibility of going to the second story of the building, which they believe will give them "salvation." They decide to pass through the grass and eat it, even if it means starving to death. When they get to the water, they decide to join the other travelers, who are following them. The three men then discuss the food they have found and decide to store it on the beach once they reach the water's edge. They hear a buzz and see that a mantis has killed itself. They tap below to find the worms, but they cannot stay in the water because the worms will soon emerge from the dead mantis' body.
