The chapter opens in a lecture hall in the same building as the group of men who are trying to find a job. The group is called the Job Seeking Study Group, and they are looking for a professor to teach them how to write a letter of introduction to a prospective student. The students are using the lecture hall as a place to release their pheromones, which are chemicals that are released when people are attracted to one another. The professor is shocked to find that the students are releasing the same chemicals on him, and he is afraid that they are releasing them on purpose. He is also afraid that the men are trying for him to fall in love with them, and that they will try to seduce him by making him feel uncomfortable.
