About This Chapter
Several years have passed, and the two of them have both graduated from college. They've both moved out of their parents' homes and have started living together. The narrator tells the reader that he's worried about how he'll be able to teach his friend everything he learned in college. He's also worried about the fact that they're both working in different jobs. He tells us that one of his co-workers is a woman, and that she's just sent him an invitation for a "drinking party." The narrator says that he can tell by the name of the woman who sent the invitation that the man is married. He also says that the party is for a guy, and he can't figure out why his friend is so happy. He says that back then, he was "the only one twitch, lean, twitch, feeling jealous after, and going you" . Now, he says, he feels "a bit like you have turned on me" , which reminds him of when he was younger. He asks why he never brings this up, and wonders if he can do it again. He finally has a day off tomorrow, if his "hips are up" for it.
