The narrator introduces us to a young man named Arigaya, who is a member of the local soccer club. He tells us that his name is tsuzuki arigaya and that he owes his life to his brother . He wants to thank his brother for saving him from danger. He says he's going to make himself something nice to wear at home. He's wearing a kimono because it's time for him to make some incense, which is basically a kind of perfumed body wash. He asks his brother if he can try smelling some of the different kinds of incense, but he doesn't want to get too confusing with his older brother. Then he tells his brother that he'll have him try the "test version" of the incense since his mother is part of the family, and he hopes that she'll like it. The narrator is impressed by the smell of the finished product, which makes him want to go wash it off. He also tells his younger brother to stay with him from now on.
