About This Chapter
The next morning, the new manager, misato, and his assistant, pull, enter the audit room. The two men discuss the situation with each other. The new manager says that the new assistant is getting along well with the other employees, but he is still doing his job. The assistant complains about the smell of food coming from the room, and the manager responds by saying that the smell is coming directly from his head. He says that his assistant is a picky eater, and that he has to limit the amount of food he eats. He tells the assistant that the director of the audit office has been confronted with a "one hundred percent violation" of free business, and he says that he will have to do something about it. When the assistant asks if he can take over as the new head chef, the manager replies that he does not know anything about Italian food, and there is only one room in the entire building that is currently being used for this purpose. He adds that he is glad that the assistant's career has been ruined, because he almost ruined the position of the head chef. The manager tells him that the current head chef has suggested that they conduct an internal investigation into every branch in the country, because the assistant was promoted through "bribing" by the president and the director. He warns the assistant not to get used to this kind of thing, as he is used to "false defamation"
