About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that when he was in school, he lived next door to a pair of identical twins, one of whom was a year older than the other. The narrator asks the twins to take care of the shy boy since he is so shy. The twins, who are called "the sister" and "the brother," are the same age as the narrator, and the narrator asks them to take good care of him. He tells the twins that he is moving again, and he wants to write a letter to his fiancee, Haruka, before he leaves. Haruka is the only person he can ask to write such a letter, so he asks her to remember him even after he moves away. He says that he will never forget the smile he always had on his face when he first met her seven years ago. He thanks her for her kindness, and tells her that he's surprised that she's grown so tall since he used to be so small. He also says that the two of them have been doing well together, and that he and his fiancee are getting ready for their big day. He asks Haruka to think of his uncle, who's been "his pitalized" , and Haruka says that it's "over kill" . She tells him that he looks just like her, but that they used to look alike back then. He apologizes for breaking her hand, and she apologizes too, saying that she is happy to be back in Haruka's good graces. She says that she wants to ask him about the day before he left, when he left while she was sick. She asks him why he can't find the "simi larity" in his memories of her, and why she trembles when he looks at her face. She also asks him if he gave her the letter to write to Haruka.
