About This Chapter
The doctor tells the story of how he and the other surgeons saved the life of a child who was bleeding profusely from an internal hemorrhage. When they stopped the bleeding, the child's wounds were healing, and the doctor was shocked to find that the child had been hiding from him. The doctor asks the child how much he has been hiding and the child tells him that he had been tortured to death by the supremes for something he had done long ago. The child asks if the creature is the "two-legged beast" of the boss's pet litter. The creature explains that it is the collective entity of his dead followers who have sworn an oath to remain loyal to him even in their afterlife. He tells the child that his one decision left his followers with "long lasting regrets and hatred"
