About This Chapter
The scene opens with a tap on the boss's door. The tap is for the news of the day. The boss asks what is wrong, and the lady replies that the boss is "over by my hand." The boss is annoyed, and he asks the lady if she and the man are living together. The lady says that they are, but that she is not sure if it is true or not. She asks the boss to get his mind out of the way first, so that she can concentrate on the business at hand, which is to serve the customer. She says that her hand slipped, and she is deeply regretful, but the boss shuts her up, saying that a mistake is just a mis-take. He says that he does not care about excuses, and that his highest priority is to provide the best service possible. He asks her why she is so angry, and her answer is that she was wrong to yell at him. She apologizes, and says that she needs to be more attentive to her customers.
