The chapter opens with a description of the "master mystical medicine land" , a place dedicated to cultivating spiritual plants out of corpses. The plants in the garden absorb the energy of corpses as nutrients, and thrive. After the plants have grown, herb collectors come regularly to harvest them. The narrator explains that the quality of the spiritual plants is getting worse, and he wonders how he will explain this to the people coming to take them. He doesn't know what year it is, but he guesses it's year 1258, the year of the Battle God Calendar. He's surprised that he's come back to the land ten years after his death. He says that the ancestral blood within his body is a threat to the family of his childhood sweetheart, situ luoxin. The yuwen family can't allow anyone to threaten them, he says, because they are in the qi state. He explains that he will use the blood to nourish plants, which will then be the best material for the refinement of the pills. He asks why the yuwens are attacking him, and why they didn't answer him ten years ago when he asked why they were attacking him. He tells them that he has lost all of his divine power, and that he can no longer absorb spiritual energy.
