Doobiedoo's mom, Mariane, tells the story of her son's first day of school. She tells the audience that her son asks questions that make them laugh, and that sometimes his questions can break her heart. Mariane tells them that when they first meet Doobie, they might not notice that he is a little shy, but otherwise, he is "just an ordinary boy" . Doobie's mother says that she was expecting a baby boy, but when she went into labor, she found that the baby wasn't as big as she had expected. She was surprised when the baby opened his eyes, and she realized that he was her son.
