About This Chapter
This chapter opens with a description of the scene in which a pregnant woman is being executed in the embassy of the Republic of the Congo. She is being carried away in a frenzy by a "monster" , and the authorities are about to execute her. The narrator tells the audience that the execution is a "warning to others" and that the authorities will have to execute the woman if they fail to do so. He tells them that the woman's cell regeneration has begun, and she will soon be able to walk again. He asks the narrator if he understands the concept of "angels." The narrator says that he doesn't, but the ambassador wants to see him immediately. The ambassador tells the cadets that they must return the woman to the authorities. He says that the embassy has always opposed the death penalty, and that she has until the next day to be exfiltrated from the embassy.
