The chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter, in which Theseus and the Minotaur were imprisoned in a labyrinth. The minotaur had managed to thread a rope to the entrance of the labyrinth, and Theseus was planning to kill the two men. The two men are now trapped in the labyrinth and have no way out. The only way they can escape is to help each other.
