In this chapter, we learn that Edgar is hiding out in the woods with his brother, Alphonse, and that they've been unable to find him. They're afraid that the rats have taken over the town, and they're desperate to get him back. They want him back, pronto, pronto. The chapter ends with a soliloquy about how the war will be even worse this time around.
