About This Chapter
Ikeda and her father are on their way home when they run into a pack of furmen, who are looking for the sugar stone. They try to find the stone, but it's too hard to find, so they close their eyes and wait for the stone to fall from the sky. They're afraid that they'll ask the questions that will make them lose the stone. The furmen tell them that the stone isn't a myth, and that they have the factory to make it. They say that if the stone does exist, they will do everything in their power to keep it from them and their kind. They don't want the stone in their town, and they're going to do everything they can to prevent it from coming into contact with them. The two of them move toward the town, but the furmen stop them and keep them from running away. They talk about the town and its inhabitants, and then they start talking about the stone again, and this time, the fur men stop them, and the two begin to run away. The narrator tells us that this is the first time we've heard of the town's inhabitants, so we're not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
