About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that the prophecy concerning the scarlet raid has come true. It turns out that the pact that you made with the old demons was a pact that was doomed to failure. The first petal of blood was born in November, the second in December, the third in January, the fourth in March, the fifth in July, the sixth in August, the seventh in September, the eighth in October, and the ninth in November. The narrator says that he would rather be in the place of the scarlet warrior than be in his place. He says that since he entered the tavern, the guards have stopped tormenting the girl on the stage. He tells her that they will try to keep her away from the wolves. The wolves are outside, and he has declared war on their authority. He recognizes the voice of the wolf and sends the gunners to keep the wolves at bay. He finally realizes that the wolf is the leader of the pack.
