The chapter opens with a description of the scene in which the monster attacks Regan Regan and her son. Regan tells the monster that she is pregnant, but the monster does not recognize her. The monster then attacks Regan again, but Regan is able to stop him. She tells him that the monster is an angel, and that he has taken another child. Regan asks the monster if he believes in angels, and the monster says that he does not. He tells Regan that he and her husband had a bad day, and they fell asleep on a couch watching a movie. Regan says that she knows the monster came from the left field, but she has to ask if he left a mark on the body of the missing child.
