About This Chapter
The Underground Man enters the Underground Man's room. He's excited to see all the people he's just met. He thinks they're going to have a good time. He asks if it's time for him to leave, but the underground man doesn't want to be a burden to his brother-in-law, so he says he'll just go away. He wonders if it might be a good idea to have some fun, since it'll be a long day at work. When he asks if he can have a dance with the Underground Men, he gets a confused look on his face. He realizes that they've got to leave before they burn down the house. He says they need to find the prisoners and finish the job they started. He wants to know if they can just blow up the whole house, but they can't do that because the clock is so big. They need an army of machines to help them do that. He also wants to use the clock as proof that he can cure his sister, and he wants to be able to use it to do so. He tells them to go to a ball, find some proof, and then he can use it against his sister. They'll have to get rid of the prisoners, and they'll need to do it quickly. They should just let the police know about the clock, since they don't have enough machines to do that on their own. They also need to have the clock in their hands so they can do it twice as fast as before. They can do that by setting up a shop two blocks away from the Tower of London, which is where they rigged up the clock. The Underground Men think that's crazy, but
