The ship's captain is worried about his crew, who have all been washed away by the waves. He tells the young man that he must cut off the masts before the ship can sail. The young man tells the captain that he loves his wife, sparrow, and that she is mad as a "hatter" . The captain tells him to put his backs into the ship if he values his life. He says that he will make it to London, but that the devil knows about it.
