In this chapter, the mermaid , named rani, meets her new friend, the fairy , who lives in the ocean. The two of them glide down to the mermaid's home, where rani explains that the home is the loveliest place on the face of the earth, but that the mermaids' castle is "so amazingly beautiful" that it makes rani shiver
