The narrator tells us that if we follow the sound of the bells, we'll find the island of Never Lano, where mermaids and children don't grow up. The island is called "Pixie Hollow" because it's a place where fairies live. Some of the fairies can do magic, some can fly, and some can talk to animals. The narrator says that the night before the new moon, there was a lot of work being done on the fountain, so all the fairies went to work. The fairy who lives in the island is named "Tinker" because she can fix things. She's also the best tinker fairy in the world, because she's able to fix anything. Tinker asks the fairy if he's helping with the fountain and the fairy says that he always helps make the fairy dance. He's sorry, but he can't do it because he has to stay on his brother's back. Everyone thinks that if he stays on his back, his brother will knock the fountain over. He says that everyone thinks that he has wings, which makes it hard for him to do anything.
