About This Chapter
In this short scene, the hero and his helper, the red blood cell, "clump" and "squish" their nutrients and oxygen to each other in order to train their muscles. The red blood cells are the ones that carry oxygen and nutrients to the rest of the body, while the white blood cells transport carbon dioxide and other nutrients. The hero tells his helper that he remembers her, and she tells him that she hasn't seen him in a while, and that she doesn't think he needs to worry about his health. The white blood cell tells the hero that he's blushing, and he says that the last time he saw him, he was "laxing over some bacteria." The hero says that his immune system is "under control" and that he is "unbelievably cute." He says that no immune system can ever attack a "bacteria as cute" as he is. He tells the helper that his fight with the girl he usually fights with is like an exercise in "hitting vital spots" . He asks the girl if she got in a fight, and the girl says that it was just that she was so weak that she couldn't do "primary flocculation" , which is a training exercise in which the two of them work together to form a blood clot . The platelets are small, but they're important because they make up for their lack of height, so it's necessary for them to "combine all our strength" to do this. Everyone encourages her, but she says that she's too weak to do it. She says that this is why she carries a double-load of coagulation factor , a blood clotting agent, to help her train. She's worried that she won't be strong enough to do the job, so she says she'll use the fibrin , another blood-clotting agent , to connect the two blood cells together. This is a very important part of the training exercise, she says, because if you don't use it, you're going to get injured in the next bleed. She tells the girl that she can'T do this, because she is so weak. The girl says she can do it, but because of her, "everyone is"
