The next day, the diary continues to record the events of the previous day. It is now 17 days until the "sunflower blossoms" and the narrator is grateful to have found the diary. He tells the reader that if he chooses hinata, he really wants her to choose him. If she does not, he says, he will not be able to spend time with her or the other students in the class. He also tells her that he will do anything in his power to make her choose him, even if it means that the whole class will fall apart. The narrator tells us that he came to tell hinata that he cannot go out with her because he wants to go with Teru. He says that he has lost his cell phone and that he would like to use his phone to find it. He then tells the others to try to find hinata's phone and use it to find her cell phone. He asks them to be kind to each other while he goes looking for his lost cell phone, and he promises to tear them all apart if they do not choose him
