The narrator tells us that he has been watching the girl all along. He says that she always appears out of nowhere and leaves without saying a word. He also says that yesterday she got locked in another room and that she was alone. The narrator says that he is surprised that a boy has been paying attention to him, because he is so happy. He adds that he bought a set of sunflower seeds from hikage and is leaving it outside. He tells the teacher that he wants to thank him properly for giving him the handkerchief yesterday. The teacher says that if he says so, it means that he likes the girl. The girl whispers that she has never seen him before and asks him who the girl was with the other night. He replies that he had been watching her because he likes her
