The chapter opens with a description of a country where everyone can live in peace, and where herbi-vores and carnivores have different lifestyles. The narrator introduces us to a goat named Yoagi, who works as an employee at a small shop for carnivores in the country's carni-vore zone. Yoagi is excited to work at the shop because he's been dreaming of being a bookseller since he was a kid. The shop owner, rokurou, is kind enough to let Yoagi work in the shop, even though he doesn't like the idea of having a goat working for him.
