It's time for the second half of the story to begin. The narrator wakes up and tells his sister that he's had another bad exam and that his allowance has been suspended. She begs her sister to lend her some money so that she can do well on the exam, but the older sister refuses. The older sister tells the younger sister that she'll talk about the suspension after she passes the exam. The younger sister tells her that her friends have agreed to attend her birthday party, but she's worried that her allowance will be suspended as well. She asks her sister if she can borrow money from her, but her sister says that she doesn't have much money, and she needs to use it on her exam. She tells her sister that her grades are getting worse and worse, and that the exam will be even worse the next time she takes it. She also tells her about a group called "study god" that's supposed to help people get better grades in a month.
